Okay, okay, okay... Seriously what the **** is going on.

Nvidia GPUs receive driver updates soon after each version update of OS X. Only one driver is released by Nvidia and it includes support for all of their modern GPUs. You will not find individually named Nvidia drivers for OS X, they are all titled 'Quadro & Geforce Mac OS X Driver Release xxx.xx.xxxxx'.


I have the latest NVIDIA CUDA driver for my 15' Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. That driver number is v9.0.222. It's the second to be released since macOS High Sierra and the preference pain is STILL telling me it needs to be updated.

My Mac is so incredibly slow, laggy and sluggish because this driver clearly doesn't work... Yet it's been released by NVIDA for 10.13. I don't get it.


  1. STEP 2: Download the Driver File Download - CUDADriver-8.0.51-macos.dmg. STEP 3: Install Note: Quadro FX for Mac or GeForce for Mac must be installed prior to CUDA 8.0.51 installation. Double-click on CUDADriver-8.0.51-macos.dmg; Click Continue on the CUDA 8.0 Installer Welcome screen.
  2. Mac Nvidia graphics card drivers and CUDA downloads for MacOS High Sierra, Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks and Mountain Lion - later released drivers first. Download Mac Nvidia drivers for macOS 10.13.6 all the way back to OS X 10.8.5.

I've got an NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M GPU.


How is it that NVIDIA release two drivers for this OS and they don't work? Is there anything I can do? I there and older driver that works perfectly fine?

Cuda Driver For Mac

  2. You must update the NVIDIA display driver before updating CUDA. Check your macOS build number and download the corresponding driver, using the following table.

  3. Open the downloaded PKG file to begin installation.

  4. Restart your machine when installation is complete, even if the setup does not prompt you to do so.

  5. After the display driver is updated, use download the qualified CUDA installer DMG from this location.

  6. Open the downloaded DMG and double click the CUDADriver.pkg file to begin installation.

  7. When installation completes, restart your machine even if the setup does not prompt you to do so.
