How to Connect a Printer to a Mac If you can’t find the instructions that came with your printer, this video demonstrates how to hook up your printer to your Mac, including connecting the USB cable, finding the printer driver’s software, and testing your new printer once it’s hooked up to your Mac. When adding a network printer to your Apple computer, you will have to do so via the IP address instead of the printer's network name. Please follow these instructions to locate the IP address of the printer you are attempting to add to your computer.
- Click on the 'Spotlight' icon in the top menu bar (far right)
- Type 'Network Utility' in the search field and press 'Enter'.

- Click to select the Lookup tab at the top. Enter the printer's network name in the field below - you will need to add .printer.wfu.edu to the end of the network name. For example, ZSR-207-XRX will need to be entered as ZSR-207-XRX.printer.wfu.edu. Click Lookup and the IP address will be displayed in the white box below
